About KurdAI
KurdAI Academy is a non-profit platform dedicated to serving and preserving the Kurdish language, history and culture through modern, Kurdish-aware artificial intelligence.
Our mission
Every language is a precious heritage. Kurdish — across its Sorani and Kurmanji dialects — is spoken by tens of millions of people, yet remains under-served by mainstream AI. KurdAI exists to change that: to build tools, trained with awareness of Kurdish language, culture and history, so that Kurds everywhere can chat, translate, learn and create in their own tongue.
What we build
We develop fine-tuned, Kurdish-first AI tools across Sorani, Kurmanji and English — currently Jire (a Kurdish chat assistant), Wergêr (translation between Sorani, Kurmanji and English), and Sorani-to-Latin transliteration. Speech tools (text-to-speech, speech-to-text and voice chat) are on the roadmap. Several of our models are openly shared with the research community.
A community project
KurdAI is a small, resource-limited non-profit founded by Karim Rahimi. We are currently in beta with a growing waiting list. The platform is built for the Kurdish community, and it grows with the community's support, feedback and contributions.
